how to beat the travel blues.

what to do, instead of traveling.Whenever I'm not traveling (which is about 50 weeks out of the year), I find myself wishing I was traveling.

I know, it's quite the conundrum.

I've diagnosed myself with the Travel Blues.

It's when you wish you were out exploring someplace new (preferably a new country) and you can't help but daydream about your next adventure.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who has the travel blues...

So, here are some of my favorite ways to get out of my travel funk.

Explore Your Town.

This is something I am so quick to push aside. It's easy for me to forget about exploring my own town when I live there and drive around in it all the time. But the reality? There are so many places I have yet to discover or explore. So, take a drive and find a place that's new this weekend!

Make a Weekend Trip.

For the past few weekends, I have made a trip to visit friends or family in nearby areas. Don't discount this as not traveling (I'm easily prone to doing that)! Even if it's just a few hours away (or less), it is still traveling. Getting out and going someplace new (or familiar) helps me realize that adventure really can be in my backyard.

Save, save, save.

This might be the hardest one to do. It's easy for me to save money for a trip I'm planning. But when I don't actually have a trip planned, saving money can be really difficult. It's like saving for a figment in my head. A trip that I might take one day. But, if I'm being honest, with my track record of traveling, I'll probably be headed somewhere exciting soon. So, it only makes sense to start saving now.

Plan it.

This one is also hard for me. I love planning things out, but during this season in my life, it's hard to plan anything past December. Which can kill me. But, that doesn't mean I can't create a new Pinterest board for things to do in said city. This is one of the best parts about going on a trip, after all. Planning out all the possible adventures!

So, tell me if you've ever been hit with the travel blues! And if you have, what do you do to get out them? I wanna hear!
