Travel and Blessings

What a day.

We left Beijing at 3:40 pm on the 14th. It's now 6:36 am in Beijing on the 15th. And I'm not done traveling.

There's something seriously wrong with this picture. Ready for the kicker? I won't be to Atlanta until 7:40 tomorrow morning, the 15th. Which will be 7:40 pm in Beijing. Too much for me to handle.

Let me start at the beginning. And let's look at the blessings.

We got to the airport and Amy and Julia left EARLY in the morning for Detroit and got off perfectly fine! Shannon, Sarah, Megan, and I went down to lost luggage at the airport to see if we could find our bags and what did we find? OUR BAGS! {Thank you for your prayers! For whatever reason, God did not want us to have those bags in Chenzhou, and it was a blessing in disguise. The train would have been terrible with those four bags.}

We creeped into the back room and I don't think I've ever been so excited. I started to cry.

It took about 10 minutes so we did a little repacking and sent most of the donations to Chenzhou and I took one bag back with me. Becky, Dani will get her package! I am sending Chenzhou a list of what was in the package so hopefully she will get everything!

We checked our bags (yes, I checked my bag once again...very trusting :) and headed to our gate.

The flight was about 12 hours long, but seemed super short. Okay, maybe not super, but pretty short. It was a 3-4-3 plane so it was pretty big. Elyssa and I were in the very middle and it wasn't as bad as expected, I guess. We all slept for most of the time. Everything was good except for the people behind Megan and me who kept kicking our seats. And we had no tvs :(

From touchdown to my next flight, I had one hour. One hour to go through customs and immigration, get my bag, recheck my bag, go through security, and get on my flight to ATL. I was running, sweating, crying, and everything in between.

My bag did make it, which was pretty surprising with all the luck I've had. It popped up with about 20 minutes to get to my gate. I checked the bag with about 10 minutes to spare and got through security 3 minutes late. I ran to my gate and they said it was long gone.

Cue the tears. The lady was SUPER helpful and I am now booked for a flight to ATL due to arrive at 7:40 tomorrow morning.

I am ready to be home. I'm ready to see my family...even Ike. I'm ready to be in my bed. I'm ready to see my friends. I'm ready for familiarity. I'm ready for some Chick-fil-A.

Now to look at the blessings:
I brought my computer and now I have something to keep me busy for these next hours.
Tomorrow I get some Chick-fil-A. I wouldn't have gotten it today...because today is Sunday.
My mom is the most patient person ever. She is driving 5 hours tonight, staying the night in ATL, and then picking me up and driving me 5 hours home.
My team is amazing. Always encouraging and always looking out for me.

I'm ready to cry writing this. I don't know if it's because I miss my team who I spent the last two weeks with, or if it's because I wanna hug my mom, or if it's because of this song.

Either way, thank you for your prayers and thoughts. I feel so blessed to be where I am. Even if it's in an airport for the next 7 hours.

I love you all,
