The Next Year

Well, it's official. I'm going to China next year. So excited :)

After talking to my mom I was explaining the feeling of not being able to not go back. The thought of not seeing their faces and playing with those kids next year makes me very sad.

I feel the calling to go back.

But there are so many reasons of why I can't go back.
1. Graduating
2. Spending the summer to focus on college in the fall
3. Senior trip
4. Spending money on college instead of China
5. Spending money on a new computer that is desperately needed instead of China.

The list goes on and on. But as I think of all the reasons why I should NOT go back, I can't help but think of all the reasons I SHOULD go back.

I SHOULD go back to share the love I have received with kids who have not received it.

I SHOULD go back to share Christ with children and nannies who do not know Him.

I SHOULD go back to play with, sing with, and pray over precious kids and babies.

One of the amazing team members from this year wrote a beautiful blog post about our China experience. You can read about that here.

One thing she said that I really loved is this: God wants our trust and faith in HIM - not circumstances.

So instead of worrying about the things that are to come in the next year, I am going to trust in God and put my faith in Him and not the circumstances that are to come.

Proverbs 3:5 says, "Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding."

So instead of worrying about where the $4000 is going to come from, I am going to trust in the Lord.

Instead of worrying about annoying people yet again about fundraising and supporting me, I am going to trust in the Lord.

And instead of worrying about how all of this is going to come together, I am going to trust in the Lord and give it all to Him.

  1. Hey Charlie! My name is Bethany and I actually just found your blog. I think it's really, really neat that you are serving the Lord like you are. What kind of missions do you do?
I actually just had the amazing chance to go to Africa this year! I wrote a little about it on my blog: http://bethanyannette.blogspot.com/
I look forward to reading more about what God is doing in your life. :)

  2. Hi Bethany! For some reason I just saw this comment--I'm so sorry! This past year I went to China for the second time to love on orphans in a city called Chenzhou. I fell in love with them in 2010 and got to go back last year, and God's calling me back again this year. What did you do in Africa?
