Day 5 at the SWI

Today we got up a little later than usual, because we went to church.

Church started at 9 and ended at 10:30. The head nanny, her new English name is Joy, met us at our hotel and looked so pretty. She took us to church which I think was really cool.

It was a short walk to the church and when we got there the people were singing, so we just got  few pews in the back. Then a lady came up to us and took us all to the front to sit there.

When the pastor came up, I think he was making announcements, and then the congregation started to clap and so did we. Then someone came up to us and told us to stand up because they were welcoming us. The Chinese culture is so hospitable.

I sat next to a lady who was so sweet. There was space in between me and the lady I was next to and she patted the space in between us for me to sit closer to her. She was the sweetest. After the service, she started talking to me in Chinese, and I so badly wanted to talk to her, but I can't speak the language!

The service was very cool to sit in on. They do a lot of singing, and their prayers are pretty long too. I think the sermon was on forgiveness, but I'm not 100% sure.

After the service a few of the choir members wanted our picture, so we all stood up on the stage while they took pictures with us.

We walked out with them and then took a picture with them in front of the church.

It was time to head to the orphanage after that, and on the way we asked Joy if she liked the service. She said "no." As bummed that I am that she didn't enjoy it, I think it was very cool that she went with us. God's got it all figured out.

We had about 30 minutes to spend with the big kids before we had to leave so we just did some coloring and played with stickers.

Also, there is a new girl that is about 3 years old that came in last night. I am shocked at how many kids are coming in. During the short amount of time that we have been here, 3 new children have come into the orphanage. It breaks my heart.

We left and had lunch at a restaurant that has the best fried banana.

One of the nannies, Liz, gave us some necklaces because we admired hers. They are so sweet. They say love and friendship on them. So sweet of her.

We had some down time where I attempted to pack my things a little bit and then we went back to the orphanage for lots of baby time. This was fun because I got to spend time with little Jack and it was Blossom's birthday! We brought her a cake and Shannon got her the most adorable little birthday outfit! Everyone deserves a first birthday party like she had! It just makes me so sad that all the children to get them.

5:30 came way too soon and I had to give tons of kisses to little Jack before I could leave.

It started to hit me that we only have two days left with these kids. I don't know what I'm gonna do when we have to say goodbye. I'm already getting pretty teary eyed thinking about it.

We went to KFC for dinner and ate it quickly because Liz was meeting us at the hotel to take us to where her friend makes the necklaces. It was so sweet of her.

We took the bus and by bus I do mean public transportation. It was so much fun! I love going on adventures and doing new things. It was the best.

We got to where her friend was and there was tons of little booths up and down this street that is right by this little lake. It looks so Chinese. haha

We all got tons of necklaces, that we had to actually place orders because he makes them right in front of you.

I'm pretty sure he could go on a pretty awesome vacation with all our business we gave him.

We did a little more shopping and then walked back to the bus at about 8. We had to say goodbye to Liz and she was so precious holding Karla's hand as they were walking down the street.

She is so sweet. I can't say that enough. I love these nannies so much. And they do so much for these children. I could never do what they do.

We got on the bus and then headed back to the hotel and everyone is exhausted because of our awesome and busy day.

Tomorrow we have to wake up at normal time! Ahhh 6:15 is gonna come early!
